What We Do

We provide a comprehensive assessment of needs and creative and intensive service coordination for people:

  • With an intellectual disability
  • Who have high and complex support needs
  • Aged 17 years of age and over
  • Who live in Auckland or Northland and Otago and Southland
Our Care Coordinators work with people covered by the provisions of the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act 2003 (IDCCR). The RIDCA service was introduced as a direct response to this Act.

Our Intensive Service Coordinators work with people with high and complex support needs who do not fall within the Act.

What are the underlying principals and outcomes sought?
That people with an intellectual disability and high and complex support needs:
  • Are supported to be safe and valued members of the community
  • Receive support appropriate to their individual needs
  • Have their rights protected
How do you use our service?
We receive referrals through the mainstream Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) service and other mental health and disability support services. People are also referred directly to us from the Department of Corrections as well as from the Courts under the IDCCR and CPMIP legislation.
